Dartboard |  Setting Up The Board/Oche Checkouts

How To Play
The dart board is divided into 20 segments with a bull in the middle. Each segment
has a number between 1-20. Within these numbers there are split into a single
(black/white), a treble the small target (red/green) and a double the outer target.
Each player starts with a score of 501 and the winner is the first player to
diminish that score to zero, however, you must finish your score with either a
double or a bull shot.

Dart

The dart is divided into four parts, the tip, the barrel, the shaft and the flight.
All these parts come in many different styles. Some players prefer heavy barrels,
whilst others very light.

When playing darts, it is agreed ,

A steady hand is what you need  .

A good eye and a perfect stance.

(for darts is not a game of chance !)

Dont look to right or left at all.

for that is how the mighty fall!

The board is your target, -not the mat,

so ,be carefull what your aiming at.

forget what is happening all around,

and keep both feet upon the ground;

dont let anything hurry you ,

and let each dart fly straight and true !

Once you have acquired the knack ,

beleive me , you will not look back !

Setting up the board and oche

The dart board should be setup as follows. The bull should measure 5′8 ( 1.73 m )
from the ground, whilst the distance to throw 7′9 1/4 ( 2.37 m ). Also the diaganal line from the centre of the bull to the oche should be 9'7 3/8 ( 2.93 m ). It’s been said
that the perfect height for a darts player is 6′1 1/4, such as John
Lowe, Eric Bristow, John Part, Raymond Van Barneveld.
