All four first division
teams came through unscathed by beating second division opponents in
Taupo Darts' James Rameka memorial series. Riggers Blue were the
best performers when out-classing club-mates Return in a 20-0 rout.
Back to full strength, Blue showed little mercy against Return and
applied the pressure from the outset, losing just one leg
through-out the entire match. The Power kept their series hopes
alive by scoring a good win over Ynot. After winning three pairs
games, The Power piled the pressure on in the singles to establish a
good break on the opposition and cruised to a 15-5 win.Kazbar, after
fronting up with a player short, showed too much skill for Riggers
Gold. Although Gold were gifted six wins by default, they could not
take advantage of their good fortune and won just two games to allow
Kazbar a 12-8 victory. Tradesmen made up for their last round
disappointment by handing 4&Abit a 13-7 loss.4&Abit led at the
conclusion of the pairs but could not capitalize on their lead and
failed to win any singles games in the match.4&Abit were also gifted
6 games due to player shortage in their opposition.

In what was anticipated
as being the "clashes of the series" turned out to be a thriller for
one and a fizzer for the other in Taupo Darts' James Rameka series.
In the main match of the night Kazbar and The Power met to determine
which team would take the lead in the series and put a good claim on
winning the prize. After The Power made the early running over a
depleted Kazbar side, leading by 3-0 after the pairs, they seemed to
fall off the pace early into the singles to allow Kazbar back into
the game. Results seesawed through-out the rest of match and at the
conclusion the two could not be seperated, the match ending in a
10-10 draw. The Tradesmen v Riggers Blue was a non-event due to
Tradesmen unable to make a team because of the unavailability of
several players' Turei will have to learn to throw left-handed after
breaking bones in his hand. Riggers Gold posted their first points
of the second division competition by winning over club-mates
Return. Both teams supported the Junior movement by each playing an
up-and-comer who are playing at Junior & Youth Nationals at Hastings
this week. Gold got out to a good early lead and kept the pressure
on until the end to win 12-8. 4&Abit also entered the fray for
second division honours(Presidents Trophy) by beating favorites

Three of the favored
teams each won their respective games to keep their chances alive
after two rounds of Taupo Darts' James Rameka Memorial series having
been completed.Kazbar were by far the biggest winner by recording a
20-0 win over their second division opponents Riggers Return. The
Power, after winning three of the pairs games, took control early in
the singles to force 4&Abit to play catch-up for the rest of the
match and produced a 16-4 win. Tradesmen went into their match
against Riggers Gold as huge odds-on favorites to produce a big win.
After winning all four pairs games, albeit some-what scratchy,
Tradesmen looked towards gaining the big win that they expected.
Riggers Gold were not to be denied however and fought on tenaciously
to win 7 of the 16 singles and take some heart out of the match.
Riggers Blue chalked up their first point of the series by notching
up a good win over Ynot.Although the match was evenly poised at the
mid-way point, Blue applied too much pressure in the second spell

Tradesmen ensured
themselves a win in Taupo Darts' Spa Shield series by shutting out
Riggers Return in emphatic fashion in the final round of the series.
Tradesmen started well to win all four pairs games and had the game
sewn up just after the half-way point. The victory gave them a one
point series win over Riggers Blue who just managed to shut out the
fast finishing Kazbar.
Kazbar held a slender
lead at the completion of the pairs, but could not withstand the
force of Blue's singles prowess and although forced to play a junior
from the pool, could have done better. The Power got their game back
on track with a well perfomed win over 4&Abit.With their star player
back in the side,Power surged ahead from the beginning and
although 4&Abit recovered a bit early in the singles, could not keep
up with the pace,The Power winning 13-7 to maintain 3rd place and
ensure their place in the first div.Ynot had to come from behind
after trailing in the pairs to snatch a close victory over Riggers
Gold. With the score tied up in the shadow of the post Ynot made best
of their opportunities to win 3 of the final 4 games on hand to
claim the prize. Results:Tradesmen 19, Riggers Return 1;Riggers Blue

Tradesmen's
strangle-hold on the Taupo Darts Spa Shield series got a little bit
looser after suffering a loss against the rejuvernated Kazbar in the
second to last round of the comp.Kazbar started the best of the two
by winning all four pairs games and set themselves up for an
enthralling match in the singles.Tradesmen came back firing on all
cylinders to give themselves a chance of victory, but the mountain
was too high with Kazbar dealing the killer blow in the last game of
the night. The result means that Tradesmen still have a one point
lead in the series and only need to win against bottom-placed
Riggers Return to win the trophy. Riggers Blue sit in second spot
after annihilating club-mates Gold 18-2.Although Gold tried
hard, losing most games 2 legs to 1,they did not have the finish
required to take out the big guns.Ynot pulled off a major upset by
winning 12-8 against the high-flying The Power.Ynot finally
performed to their potential and would have been encouraged by the
absence of the Assn's top player Mark McGrath in their oppositions
line-up.Ynot won all 4 pairs and kept the pressure on through-out to
score their best win of the season.4&Abit produced the goods against
Riggers Return and after taking out three pairs games took off in
the singles to earn a good 15-5 victory. Results:Kazbar 11,

Tradesmen inch closer to victory in
Taupo Darts' Spa shield after comfortably winning their last round
match against Riggers Gold. Tradesmen are really fired- up this
season and after winning three of the pairs games, were in no mood
for niceties and took out all but four of the singles. Tradesmen
only have to gain wins over Kazbar and bottom placed Riggers Return
to secure the trophy. The Power and Riggers Blue did themselves no
favors and have left themselves a nigh on impossible task of
catching the leader by drawing their match. Riggers started the
match the better and led by 7-3 at the half way point and one
observer naturally thought that the game was in the bag. The Power
had other idea's though and clawed their way back into the match and
put themselves in a position to snatch a win. Riggers managed to
recover from their late-match wobbles to win the last game of the
night to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat.Kazbar
already have secured a win in the second division series, and in
fact lie just 2 points behind over-all leaders Tradesmen, after
shutting out Riggers Return 19-1.Kazbar,after wins in three of the
pairs, went on to win all 16 singles games on hand and hold a six
point buffer over their nearest rivals in the second div. Results:

Thursday , 29th May 2008 Tradesman have stolen a march in the quest for honors in Taupo Darts Spa Shield series by defeating the other unbeaten team the power in a tightly fought battle. The match was evenly poised through-out with both teams trading wins. Tradesman managed to win the all important 11th game with one to go to claim the win. Riggers Blue continue to sit in second equal place after completing a 13-7 win over Y Not. Blue after winning 3 pairs games, applied the early pressure in the singles to gain a comfortable buffer to minimize any pressure later in the match. Kazbar showed their true worth by beating 4 & Abit by 17-3. 4 & Abit had no answer for Kazbar's powerful play and were left to languish in the crying room. Riggers Gold finally got out of the starting blocks by recording a good win over club-mates Return. It wasn't without drama though as Return fought hard all of the way. The Power nearly performed a down-trou on their opposition but were stymied by a solitary singles win by John Harris to allow Return a little bit of respect. After sharing pairs wins, Tradesmen managed to draw clear early into the singles games to earn a 13-7 win over Ynot. This win sets up a juicy match against The Power in the next round and should produce a good match providing both teams can play their best selections. A draw is not inconceivable. Riggers Blue bounced back to winning form after their previous disappointment with a good win over $&Abit.Having won 3 of the pairs games, Blue stole a good break in the first six singles games then went on to a fine 16-4 win.Kazbar now lead the second div Chippies Trophy stakes by running out a 17-3 winners over the ever battling Riggers Gold. Kazbar seem to have gotten their act back together after some early season shakes and should be a shoo-in to win the series and gain re-entry back in to the first division where they belong. The large pop that was heard around the
club-house at about 10pm on Wednesday night was the sound of Riggers
Blue's bubble bursting after Tradesmen dealt a severe blow to their
chances of winning the Spa shield. Tradesmen played as if their
lives depended on it and after leading 3-1 on completion of
the pairs, streaked away early in the singles to lead 7-3 at the
mid-match point. Tradesmen had the game sewn up with 4 games to play
and left Riggers to salvage a bit of pride to win 3 of them. The
Power did their chances no harm by turning up a good victory over
Kazbar. After the pairs wins were shared the match remained tight
with both teams trading wins until The Power managed top string 5
wins together and gain the advantage in the shadow of the post.
Although Kazbar fought back gamely, The Power were too good and went
away to a 12-8 win.4&Abit were all too good for the struggling
Riggers Gold team. After winning 3 pairs games 4&Abit sailed away as
they liked leaving Gold to struggle in their wake, picking up wins
at will. Their 13-7 win will do their confidence real good for when
they come up against some of the big uns. Ynot
